 KARACHI:The foreign exchange reserves held by the central bank rose 2.3% on a weekly basis, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday.On new balance 990  October 16, the foreign currency reserves held by the SBP were recorded at $12,066.6 million, up $268 million compared with $11,798.4 million in the previous week.According to a central bank statement, the reserves increased due to official inflows of the government of Pakistan.Overall, liquid foreign currency reserves held by the country, including net reserves held by banks other than the SBP, stood at $19,301.6 million. Net reserves held by banks amounted to $7,235 million.Pakistan received the first loan tranche of $991.4 million from the International Monetary Fund aj1  (IMF) on July 9 last year, which helped  nike force bolster the reserves.
