It made me break out of my shell, she said.Cardenas attended their camps where she would meet other kids like her.Eleven years later, Cardenas leads the camps and has the opportunity to help kids who are fighting the same battle she once did. Less than 20 years ago, gonorrhea rates in the U.S. were at historic lows, syphilis was close to elimination, and advances in chlamydia diagnostics made it easier to detect infections, said Raul Romaguera, DMD, MPH, acting director for CDCs Division of STD Prevention in a written statement.
