We cannot go in at all. It has displaced eight families. Many of them are not well. The majority of them are on medication, said Lay.That includes one tenant who is a cancer patient and just moved here to get treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center. We are definitely devastated by that. We placed him somewhere at one of my other units to help them out. But its Christmas and everything is locked and everything is displaced and so it is a shame, said Lay.The owner of some of the affected units says she didnt have insurance and doesnt know what shell do next. But she is thankful that no one was hurt. That to me, theres no money that can substitute that: their wellness and their well-being right now, Im trying to get them their basic stuff. The toothbrushes, food, all their stuff, except the medicine. All of it, said Lay.Red Cross volunteers were here and are helping those who need it with supplies, money, and a place to stay.Today is Giving Tuesday and donations can be made to help people like those displaced by the fire HERE. vaso stanley k that he and several other council members are working on finding out what it would take to disband the Minneapolis Police Department. The announcement from Councilmember Steve Fletcher comes a week after George Floyd died while in police custody in Minneapolis. During an appearance on CNN on Wednesday, he called the citys police department ungovernable. The department is ungovernable, Fletcher said. Chief Medaria Arradondo is a leader that we ve all had very high hopes in and that I imagined could play a role in envisioning the next version of public safety. But he has clearly not been able to make the culture change happen that we were hoping for and investing in. What it would take to disband the department is unclear. But what is clear is that the department is already seeing a reduced role in the protection of the city. On Wednesday, the Minneapolis Park Board voted to terminate its relationship with the department, and the Minneapolis Police will no longer be involved in guarding events on park property.Fletcher said in a Twitter post that its time to declare policing as we know it a thing of the past. Our city nee

That doesnt resort quickly to pepper spray when people are understandably angry. That doesnt murder black men. Despite tension
