Police officers, paramedics and firefighters in Mississauga and Brampton drove by two hospitals with their sirens blasting on Tuesday, April 7, in their second salute to health-care professionals working on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic.Members of Peel Regional Police, Peel Paramedics, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Brampton Fire and Emergency Services conducted the drive-bys outside Mississauga Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, with hundreds of health-care workers stationed outside the respective hospitals.It was the second salute of its kind conducted within Peel Region since March 28. Hamilton motorists will have to find another way to climb the escarpment after the city closes the east leg of the Sherman Access between the bottom of the Sherman Cut and the Kenilworth Access on Aug. 21 that will last for about two weeks.In addition, the Sherman Cut will also be closed for two days in both directions.Officials say the closure is to allow for work crews to conduct slope stabilization on the escarpment walls.
